About the museum
The museum presents a collection by farmer Johannes Lohilampi (1866–1938) that was put together by his brother Kaarlo Vanamo. The collection mainly contains objects from Sammatti and western Uusimaa from the late 18th century to the early 20th century.
The museum is located in the historic Vanhatalon rustholli farm, the current main building of which was completed in 1778. The ruins of the previous main building can still be seen at the edge of the yard. The museum area also includes a raised granary, two outbuildings, a grain store, a stone cowshed and an adjacent granary.
Johannes Lohilampi founded the museum in 1911, and it is now operated by the Lohja Museum. The Johannes Lohilampi Museum is open to the public during the summer. Taidenavetta art gallery is in the stone cowshed, which is rented out in the summer for temporary exhibitions, parties and various events.
